#90. Look at a tree. Do you see yourself? JAN16

If you contemplate  any tree like this one you will discover sooner or later yourself.

Your outer self
Made of mind and body is like the branches and the leaves and is always, always  moving, never resting, coming and going.
Your inner self
Also called “Genuine self”, “True self” made of the main trunk and its deep unseen roots is the strong and still self.
Meditation is helping us to quiet the top and discover the unseen.
A life time experience for most of us.
Do not desperate, we are here to assist you in your journey.
Unquestionably yours.

#89. Our deceiving mind: Part 2.21DEC15

Definition: To mislead or falsely persuade someone that something is true or real.

The first thing I have learned over the last 12 years from my Zen teachers and practice is not to trust my mind at all cost.

Of course proper thinking is critical in our day-to-day life to make decisions, to plan and to assist others but most of the time our thoughts, opinions and judgments are just ongoing inner voices, sort of a permanent sound track to which we are addicted. Those thoughts are too often self-centered and they are useless if not dangerous.

Learning to be aware of our thoughts / emotions and to assess them to see whether or not they are true, useful or dangerous is a critical step towards your serenity. There is no other way.

What is fooling us during most all our life, day after day?

The outside world or our inside mind-created world?

#88. Chasing our tail none stop.17DEC15

Zap, our cute little Shih-Tzu dog loves to chase its tail.

One day I was watching him running around and started to laugh at him.
He stopped, looked at me, and said quite upset:

“I don’t understand you daddy: being a Zen Master you should know that a dog chasing its tail is no more foolish and deluded than a human who:

  • Is seeking happiness from money, goods, power, frame and pleasure.
  •  Is looking non-stop for the perfect spouse, companion, friend, kids, job, heath, beauty, longevity, sex, car, house, food, mood, gift, trip etc..
So, you guys, are also chasing your tail non stop, all your life. Pretty sad to watch.
Daddy, life is what it is even if some of its parts  is not what we expect from it.”

#85. Focusing: What? How, Why?7DEC15.

What is focusing?

To focus is:

  • “To direct attention or effort on something / somebody.”
  • To concentrate, to pay attention, to center, to be aware.
  • To force the mind to think / concentrate on one thing at a time during a period of time for whatever reason, task or goal.
